LIVE FLAMENCO MUSIC AND DANCE: Flamenco originated in Southern Spain and is deep rooted in Andalusia, a region that has seen the coming together of several cultures particularly Spanish, Moorish Arab and Gypsy.  Flamenco is best described as a genre coming from a way of life, in which poverty and oppression were interpreted in dance, song and guitar.

Members of Salero Calo and students Fineza Flamenca Dance School will be performing Flamenco Dance and Music.  Both the school and the performing group have been established since 2003.  Annette Morcos, the director of both organizations, has over twelve years of dance experience in Flamenco.  Her interest in Flamenco is not limited to dance.  She also sings and regularly performs in the city with her professional dance group Salero Calo.  The group’s next performance is scheduled for January 28, 2010 at the Beat Niq Jazz Club.  Annette also produces, from time to time, concerts that feature highly skilled and well established guest artists from Canada and internationally.  For further information on the school and performances visitwww.flamencocalgary.com
